How is salt added and how often?<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nSalt is added directly into the pool basin. Before starting the equipment, run the pump until the salt is completely dissolved. Salt is not consumed in the process. You will only need to periodically compensate for salt losses caused by filter backwashing, emptying, etc.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n
What type of salt should be used? And how much?<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nAny common type of salt is perfectly valid. If you use a very unrefined salt, dirt or impurities may appear in your pool water temporarily, but in general this will not affect your chlorinator. The recommended amount of salt is 5 to 6 kg per m3 of water for non-heated pools and 3 to 4 kg per m3 of water for heated pools (28 – 30\u00b0C).<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n
What is the recommended chlorine concentration in the water? And the pH?<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nThe recommended residual chlorine concentration for private pools is around 1 ppm. For public pools, this concentration is set out in each region’s regulations and is usually around 1.5 ppm. For chlorine to be effective, the pH must always be between 7.0 and 7.6.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n
Can a disinfected pool lose chlorine after the water is filtered?<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nIf the filter is dirty, the amount of chlorine available in the water will decrease as it passes through it, because it will react with the organic matter it contains.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n
Is salt chlorination compatible with the use of chemical products such as flocculants or algaecides?<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nAny chemical product is compatible with salt chlorination, although in principle, if you use your salt chlorination system correctly, you will not need to add any additional products.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n
Why does the chlorine level not rise in the pool if the salt level is correct and the pH is well regulated?<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nThis usually occurs in new pools or pools whose water has been recently changed. Solar radiation and heat rapidly break down free chlorine in the basin, so in pools with high sun exposure, chlorine remains in the water for very little time, even if the production rate is high. Bear in mind also that the chlorine produced by your chlorinator is pure and free of additives, which makes it especially reactive and, while this is one of its main advantages, it can lead to low concentration readings under these conditions. If you have difficulty maintaining a chlorine residual in the basin, you can use a chlorine stabiliser.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

The equipment indicates: “Low water level in cell” or “NO WATER FLOW”<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nCheck that the cell is full and that water reaches its water sensor (a small metal rod at the top of the electrode holder). If not, check the pump flow rate, the filter and the pool water level.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n
The equipment indicates “Low salt”, “Insufficient salt” or “Cell not detected”<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nThis indication appears when the electric current through the electrodes is lower than normal. It may be due to insufficient salt concentration, which should be checked, but also to the presence of limescale deposits on the electrodes or air bubbles. If there is limescale, clean the cell and temporarily reduce the polarity period.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n
The water has turned greenish<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nThis is usually due to the proliferation of algae and other microorganisms favoured by an insufficient chlorine concentration. Check the filtration hours and the production level of your chlorinator. Bear in mind that no matter how much chlorine is produced, good filtration is essential to obtain crystal-clear water. Also remember that even if the chlorine concentration in the pool is sufficient, chlorine is ineffective above pH 7.6.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n
Limescale has appeared in my pool<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\n
\nThe appearance of limescale in the pool is the result of hard water and a high pH. Limescale precipitates on pool surfaces and electrodes. By correcting the pH you will prevent the build-up of deposits.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
