Municipal Pools
Peace of mind for local councils with efficient, safe and healthy municipal pools.
Salt chlorination is an ideal ally for municipal pools. These types of pools must be absolutely safe, with high-quality water. Moreover, the more efficient they are and the lower the costs, the better. That’s where Innowater salt chlorination systems become an essential partner.
A municipal pool with Innowater salt chlorination and an appropriate control and dosing system becomes a benchmark facility in any community. As a leader in salt chlorination systems, Innowater has a wide range of systems especially designed for use in municipal pools.
Benefits of salt chlorination in municipal pools
Salt chlorination offers multiple advantages over traditional disinfection systems:
- Natural and healthy system: Produces pure chlorine naturally, without additives. Fewer chloramines, less irritation and no strong chlorine smell.
- Effective and consistent: Chlorine is generated within the system, powerful and always available. Enables continuous and effective elimination of bacteria, microorganisms and difficult contaminants.
- Ecological and sustainable: Generates no hazardous waste or by-products. The salt and chlorine cycle is completely renewable.
- Comfortable: Provides softer water for skin and eyes, offering a greater sense of wellbeing while swimming.
- Practical and automated: No chemical handling required. Enables automatic chlorine control and easy pool maintenance.
- Cost-effective: Savings on chemical chlorine and, consequently, water consumption. Very low operating costs after initial installation.
- Attractive: Cleaner, more visually appealing water, increasing the user’s perception of quality.
A municipal pool treated with salt chlorination is clearly committed to the safety and health of swimmers, while significantly reducing maintenance costs and adding a new appeal to the facility.
Salt chlorinators for municipal pools
Innowater’s wide range of salt chlorinators allows us to optimise water treatment in any municipal pool.
All our systems share an advanced architecture with:
- High-performance power supplies: Designed to provide stability, energy efficiency and a long service life even under intensive use.
- Precise electronic control: Intelligent systems that regulate chlorine production consistently, ensuring optimal water balance.
- Compact, low-maintenance cells: Designed to facilitate inspection, reduce technical interventions and ensure reliable long-term operation.
This guarantees stable, efficient and reliable chlorine production, even in intensively used pools.
Control and dosing: key in municipal pools
A municipal pool needs efficient water disinfection. Thanks to control and dosing systems, combined with our salt chlorination equipment, daily pool operation is practically automated, keeping the water in perfect condition.
At Innowater we have developed innovative systems to measure, control and regulate water treatment in municipal pools.
pH control is essential to:
- Ensure the effectiveness of the chlorine produced: Keeping pH within the right values allows chlorine to act with maximum disinfecting capacity.
- Prevent algae growth: The correct chemical balance reduces the risk of microorganism growth and keeps water in optimal condition.
- Prevent limescale deposits and deterioration: A balanced pH protects equipment, pipes and pool surfaces.
These systems include:
- Measurement probes: Continuously monitor pH and chlorine levels in the water.
- Electronic control system: Automatically manages and regulates water parameters based on readings obtained.
- Dosing pumps: Automatically adjust chemical values to maintain water balance.
By combining high-capacity Innowater industrial salt chlorinators with automatic control and dosing systems, we achieve a maximum-efficiency municipal installation, safe for swimmers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Municipal Pools
How can I switch a municipal pool treated with traditional chlorine to salt chlorination?
The process is quite straightforward. After studying the pool characteristics and defining the most suitable salt chlorinator model, we simply need to make some minor adjustments to the existing filtration system and connect the salt chlorinator to the corresponding pipework.
Does a municipal pool with salt chlorination still need other chemicals?
Salt chlorination drastically reduces the need for other chemicals, but does not eliminate it entirely.
Is it necessary to continue monitoring pH and Redox levels in a municipal pool once a salt chlorinator is installed?
Yes. A salt chlorinator does not control and balance these values. We recommend the use of automatic control systems for this purpose.
Recommended levels of different water parameters in municipal pools:
- pH: Between 7 and 7.4.
- Redox (ORP): Between 650 and 750 mV (up to 800 mV with intensive use).
- Free Chlorine: Between 0.5 and 2 mg/L (ideally above 1 mg/L).
- Combined Chlorine: Less than or equal to 0.6 mg/L.
How long does it take to recover the initial cost of installing a salt chlorinator in a municipal pool?
Although this depends on different factors, in municipal pools with intensive use, the payback period is usually between 3 and 5 years.
